Studio courses (private lessons) covering a very wide range of instruments in the 0500 level with private instructors are reserved for intermediate to advanced performers and carry an additional fee: Twelve lessons of at least 45 minutes will be provided per semester, study materials are chosen by the student in consultation with the instructor, and the student is expected to prepare/practice outside of class at least 7 hours per week.
The private lessons carry an additional cost of $445.00 per term. This lesson fee is added to tuition costs and can be paid through PittPay. The number of subsidies for private lessons is limited, and first opportunities go to declared music majors and students participating in one of the major ensembles.
Capacity is severely limited – please contact your prospective instructor as soon as possible to see if there is room.
In addition to private lessons, our Basic Musicianship courses serve those who would like to begin study of an instrument in a group setting. These are relatively large capacity enrollments filled on a 1st come 1st served basis.
