2010 Franz Lehar Composer-in-Residence Paul Lansky will give a lecture titled "Reflections on Spent Time" in anticipation of the performance of his music by the Philadelphia's famed Relâche Ensemble on April 3 at the Warhol.
Paul Lansky is the William Shubael Conant Professor of Music at Princeton University and will be Pitt's 2010 Franz Lehar Compsoer in Residence. Philadelphia's Relache Ensemble will premiere a new work by Lansky during their April 3 concert at The Andy Warhol Museum for Music on the Edge.
Lansky is known most for his computer music which often involves speech as a sound source. He has also created software for computer music composition. Lansky's work became known to broader audience when Radiohead sampled a portion of Lansky's Mild und Leise for their song Idioteque. More recently, Lansky has been writing more for acoustics instruments and those compositions are now published by Carl Fischer.
