Seyi Ajibade

Seyi is a Ph.D. student in ethnomusicology at the University of Pittsburgh. He holds a master’s degree in Music Education and Piano Performance from Carthage College and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Lagos, where he wrote his thesis entitled “An Analytical Study of Ayo Oluranti’s Jesus na Biggi Man.” Seyi’s research interests include African pianism, music and politics, and music and sustainability. Seyi is the co-founder of Chamber Music Nigeria, an organization that promotes awareness of art music and provides opportunites for young musicians to perform European classical music and Nigerian art Music. Here in the United States, Seyi volunteers with Àkójopò, a non-profit organization that supports music education in Nigeria (https://www.akojopomf.com/seyi). As a trained classical pianist, he promotes and performs African Piano Music (aka African Pianism).
