The Carpathian Music Ensemble explores East European and Balkan music with a fusion approach to arranging and performance. Skilled on classical instruments, many of the members develop new playing styles that reflect the repertoire’s regional aesthetics, and even incorporate non-regional instruments such as the bouzouki, baglamas, and African drums. Students are involved at every step of the creative process, fostering cultural connections and deeper personal interest in East European and Balkan music traditions. The Ensemble's April 5th performance will be recorded for their 2nd CD (available Fall 2013).
