IonSound Project’s spring residency concert at Pitt will include a wide array of music from Arvo Pärt’s meditative Spiegel im Spiegel to the pop sensibilities of Telephone Book by Michael Torke. The program also includes Berio’s virtuosic Sequenza VIII for solo violin, John Mackey’s Breakdown Tango, and Jonathan Kolm’s Trio for Clarinet, Cello, Piano.

Roger Zahab leads the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in Gustav Mahler's monumental Symphony No. 1. The program will also feature new works by composition students Stephanie Kay Mangold, Yingzhen Han, and Forrest Guilfoile.
IonSound Project, Department of Music Ensemble-in-Residence performs new music by Pitt's Graduate Student Composers. The program will include works for solo piano by Matt Aelmore (Folding) and Ramteen Sazegari (Glitch), Aaron Brooks’s Tunes, Half Dreamt/Lullaby/Mantra (violin and piano), and Jonghee Kang’s Re: (solo cello).
The second installment of CreatION Sound, Android Ballet, will showcase Separate Self, a new collaborative work by Garth Zeglin and Philip Thompson comprising Zeglin’s robotic/kinetic fabric sculpture and Thompson’s original composition. IonSound commissioned Separate Self with the support of a Spark Award from the Sprout Fund. This concert is also the culmination of a series of educational workshops with the Falk and Waldorf schools, and will involve student performers and their created instruments and compositions.
IonSound Project's 2012–13, “CreatION Sound: Music and Art for Humans and Robots,” presents dramatic and highly original collaborations between IonSound and two of Pittsburgh’s leading robotic artists. The first concert, Technologically Sound, will feature original work by artist Jeremy Boyle. Composer Patrick Burke has been commissioned to write a new piece for this performance conceived specifically to coordinate with IonSound and Jeremy Boyle’s interactive robotic instruments.
