Williams Named Fulbright Scholar

Associate professor Amy Williams has been selected as a Fulbright Scholar for 2017–18 at University College Cork, Ireland. During her Fulbright year she will split her duties between teaching and composing. Williams intends to compose several pieces including a Koussevitsky commission for soprano Tony Arnold and Jack Quartet.

Established 70 years ago, the Fulbright Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.  Williams joins the ranks of distinguished participants in the program which is considered the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government. Fulbright alumni include 58 Nobel Laureates, 82 Pulitzer Prize winners, 31 MacArthur Fellows, 16 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipients, and thousands of leaders across the private, public and non-profit sectors.
