The American Musicological Society held its Annual Meeting in Quebec City November 1–4. Several of our grad students and faculty were in attendance and, in between sessions, had time to catch up with alumni and friends of the Department of Music. Many thanks to grad students Brandi Neal and Chris Ruth, and Professor Mary Lewis for the many excellent photos. timmcgee.JPG The Department held a reception for Alumni and Friends. Pictured above (center) is Timothy McGee, PhD '74. McGee spent the majority of his career at the University of Toronto where he focused on early music performance practice and also wrote a widely used survey of Canadian music. quebecrec.JPG The reception provided an opportunity for our current students to mingle with alumni and friends of the program. Pictured L-R: Mark Peters (PhD '03, Assistant Professor at Trinity Christian College), Nathan Bowers (PhD '07, Visiting Assistant Professor, University of Pittsburgh Greensburg), grad student Brian Wright, Steven Saunders (PhD '90, Professor at Colby College), grad student Chris Ruth, and David Rothenberg of Case-Western Reserve (a recent presenter on our Colloquium Series). quecasober.JPG Music Library Head Jim Cassaro and grad student Mary Ober enjoy a conversation. Alumnus Jeremy Mikush (whose back is to the camera) is currently in the graduate program at UCLA. quebecpub.jpg Our grad students and prospective students took some time to sample the local scholarship.
