"Together, the performances and symposium demonstrate the breadth and depth of microtonal music, which, in Mr. Rosenblum’s view, should no longer be considered “the other” or “a fringe sub-field.” These days, more classically trained musicians are versed in the skills needed to play microtones, and some of the most significant composers of the late 20th and 21st centuries have used microtonal tuning systems, from Terry Riley to Lou Harrison to Harry Partch."
