Charles Lwanga will give a talk for the African Studies Program’s “Let’s Talk Africa” series. Lwanga’s talk, titled “Hang Them! Popular Music and the Politics of Participation and Belonging in Homophobic Uganda,” will take place on Wednesday, April 4 from 12-1:30 p.m. in 4217 Posvar Hall.
Dr. Charles Lwanga is a recent graduate of the School of Music He holds a PhD in Composition and Theory (2012) and a PhD in Ethnomusicology (2018) from the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently a visiting assistant professor of Music at Skidmore College in New York where he teaches theory and ethnomusicology. He will be sharing his research and work experience as a composer.
