Heinz Chapel Choir Spring Concert

The Choir’s tour program, "Striving for These Melodies," holds its focus on music associated with either Britain or the United States, while also acknowledging the influence of choral music and composers from other nations. The repertoire includes music by Tallis, Byrd, Stanford, Todd, Tavener, and MacMillan, as well as contemporary American composers and music from the shape note and vocal jazz traditions.

Ensemble Auditions, 2016–17

Auditions will be held for Department of Music student ensembles beginning Monday, August 29. Our choirs and instrumental ensembles are open to students throughout the University and you are encourgaged to apply regardless of your major. Below, please find specific audition requirements for each of our groups.

Gospel Choir

The Gospel Choir will have an open rehearsal on Thursday, September 1 in 123 Music Building from 6–7:40 p.m. No prepared music needed. Come and explore singing gospel music!

Pitt Choral Showcase

Join Heinz Chapel Choir, Men's Glee Club, and Women's Choral Ensemble as they combine their talents in a celebration of choral singing at Pitt. The Men's Glee Club and Pantherhythms, under the direction of Richard Teaster, will sing a variety of music ranging from 16th century English madrigals to favorites by Billy Joel. Lorraine Milovac will lead the Women's Choral Ensemble through historic and contemporary pieces from the treble voice repertoire. And the Heinz Chapel Choir with conductor Susan Rice will offer a spectrum of tonal color in several contemporary musical styles.
