Jazz Seminar and Concert

Jazz Week kicks off Monday, October 30, with a noon performance by the Pitt Jazz Ensemble at the William Pitt Union Lower Lounge, followed by evening lectures and seminars by guest musicians and scholars at the Frick Fine Arts Building on Schenley Drive throughout the week.

The 47th Annual Pitt Jazz Seminar and Concert will be a tribute to the late Geri Allen, former director of Pitt’s Jazz Studies program, who passed away June 27, 2017. Please join us for this celebration of the life and legacy of this jazz luminary.

Guest artists this year's concert include: Maurice Chestnut, tap dancer; Ravi Coltrane, saxophone; Kenny Davis, bass; Tia Fuller, saxophone; Stefon Harris, vibraphone; Victor Lewis, drums; Kassa Overall, drums; Nicholas Payton, piano/trumpet; and Kurt Rosenwinkel, guitar. Film, stage, and television actress S. Epatha Merkerson will host.
