About the Soloists

Violinist Wil Snead was born and raised in Colorado and has played the violin for eight years, during which time his principal teacher has been Nancy Feiner. During high school, he was a member of the Arapahoe Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestra as well as the Western States Honor Orchestra and the Colorado All State Orchestra. Currently a sophomore at Pitt, Snead studies violin with Roger Zahab and has been a member of the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Honors College String Quartet since coming here. He is a Bioengineering Major still deciding what to do upon graduation, but intends to pursue his passion for music for the rest of his life.

Violist Wei Zhao, has been playing in orchestras since his freshman year of high school and has participated in Pitt’s Symphony Orchestra since arriving here. Currently in his second year as a member of Honors College String Quartet, Zhao is majoring in Neuroscience. His plans include attending medical school, becoming a doctor, and continuing to pursue his passion for music.
