Gary Tomlinson, Yale University's John Hay Whitney Professor of Music and Humanities and Director of the Whitney Humanities Center will give a lecture on the evolutionary emergence of human musical capacities. Department of Music Assistant Professor Gavin Steingo will give a response to Tomlinson as part of this Humanities Center-sponsored event.

Tomlinson will also give a lecture at 5 p.m. tiled "A Million years of Music: The Emergence of Human Modernity".
