Andrea Parkins (NYC/Berlin) will discuss her recent work, including her electroacoustic solo project, performed as a multi-diffusion work for electronically-processed accordion, objects, and live electronic processing.  Described as a "sound-ist" of "protean talent," by critic Steve Smith, Parkins is known for her pioneering electroacoustic approach on her accordion, and investigation of embodiment and chance with her amplified objects and self-designed virtual instruments. Her solo project features the subtle sonic examination of everyday objects and surfaces, and the layering of extended accordion techniques with multi-pitched electronic feedbacks. Parkins' work has been presented at the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Kitchen.  Issue Project Room, Kunsthalle Basel, Cyberfest (St. Petersburg), Akousma Festival of Immersive Digital Music in Montreal, and many more.
