The Carpathian Music Ensemble will continue its energetic focus on music from the Carpathian region and the Balkans. Special emphasis will be placed on Romani music in anticipation of this year’s study abroad course "Romani Music, Culture, and Human Rights" taking place in the Czech Republic and Hungary May 24-June 15. Many members of the ensemble will participate in that course along with students from across the University.
The April 4 program will also feature Ukrainian music, a reflection of ensemble members’ active engagement with recent events in Ukraine and Russia's annexation of Crimea.
