Roger Zahab and the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will host The William and Mary Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Grandis, for a free concert at Bellefield Hall Auditorium. The program includes Elgar's Cello Concerto in e minor, featuring cellist John Anderson, and Schubert's Unfinished Symphony.

February 5, 2014 - 8:00pm

Updated: Tenor Robert Frankenberry joins the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for Birtten's Nocturne. Director Roger Zahab will pick up his violin to perform Beethoven's Triple Concerto with cellist Paula Tuttle and pianist Donna Amato. Assistant conductor Matt Aelmore will lead the Beethoven.

The December 4th Symphony Orchestra concert features oboe soloist Robin Driscoll in Tison Street’s Adagio in E flat for oboe and orchestra along with a world premiere composition by Andrew Head. Driscoll is a member of the private instruction faculty for the Department of Music and Head is a senior Music and Computer Engineering double major.

The next concert by the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra provides an opportunity to hear not just one outstanding soloist, but two: Anna Singer, a veteran of both the operatic stage and radio broadcast, and Nicholas Stamatakis, one of the music department’s multi-talented students.

The Orchestra will perform Massenet's Scenes Alsaciennes, Wagner's Tristan und Isolde - Prelude and Liebestod with soloist Anna Singer, and Grieg's Piano Concerto with soloist Nick Stamatakis.

The University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra performs Fauré’s Pelleas and Melisande and Britten’s Cello Symphony with cellist David Russell.
