A $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student who will be enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh in September of 2017.  The scholarship is divided between the fall and spring terms. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of performing ability as demonstrated by an audition video file or CD.

The first official Music at Pitt event of 2017 takes place on January 28, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t music happening here. Both undergrads and grad students have concerts coming up this week and we hope you can come see them.

Ethnomusicology graduate student Danielle Maggio’s review of Shana L. Redmond’s Anthem: Social Movements and the Sound of Solidarity in the African Diaspora has been published in the Fall 2016 edition of The Bulletin of the Society for American Music.

The Heinz Chapel Choir Holiday Concerts are sold out, but you can still hear these beautiful voices when WQED streams the concert live. Click on the "Listen Live" link at 8 p.m. on December 9th to hear this annual holiday highlight.

Jazz Studies doctoral candidate John Bagnato’s presentation at the International Conference of the BluesThe Half Ain’t Never Been Told: Blindness & Blues in the Race Record Evangelists, 1926-1929” was selected as the winner of the third Luther Brown Prize.

Music Major Maggie Stiffler (composition track) is a Dietrich School Peer Advisor helping to guide and support newer students as they acclimate to Pitt.

Tickets for Heinz Chapel Choir Holiday Concerts go on sale at noon Thursday, October 13 and must be purchased in advance. General admission is $15; students and seniors are $10.

Pittsubrgh Tribune Review classical music critic Mark Kanny highlighted the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's 40th Anniversary Season in the most recent A&E update. Kanny noted that,

Pitt Arts’ Annual Arts Fest will take place in the William Pitt Union Lower Lounge on Saturday, September 17 from 12:30-3:30 p.m.
