Ogburn is American Prize Third Place Winner

Congratulations to James Ogburn (PhD 2009) for being named third place winner by The American Prize for his Concerto for Accordion and Orchestra. Ogburn’s Concerto was premiered in June of 2015 by accordionist Heidi Luosujärvi and the Tahiland Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Principal Guest Conductor Claude Villaret. Ogburn is currently Assistant Professor of Composition and Theory and Coordinator of Music Theory at Columbus State University. Prior to teaching at Columbus State, Ogburn was Chair of Composition and Theory at Mahidol University College of Music in Thailand where he also directed the Thailand International Composition Festival and served as Composer-in-Residence with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra during their 2013-14 season.
