Nathan Davis Receives BNY Mellon Living Legacy Award

Nathan Davis, Professor of Music, Emeritus and founder of the Department of Music’s Jazz Studies Program was awarded the BNY Mellon Jazz 2013 Living Legacy Award.

“The award, which honors jazz masters from the mid-Atlantic region who have achieved distinction in jazz performance and education, was presented to Davis in a special ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday on Oct. 5.”

The 43rd Annual Jazz seminar and concert will be led by the Department’s new Director of Jazz Studies, Geri Allen (MA 1982), and will be a tribute to davis.
