Pitt's Jazz Ensemble hosts outstanding big bands from CAPA Middle and High Schools, Upper St. Clair High School, Carnegie Mellon University, and West Virginia University.

What better way to kick off Jazz Week than the Pitt Jazz Ensemble in a free concert at the William Pitt Union? Ralgh Guzzi leads the ensemble in a program of jazz standards inlcuding music by Mary Lou Williams, Billy Strayhorn and Errol Garner.

World renowned jazz pianist Geri Allen joins Pitt's Symphony Orchestra as soloist on Mary Lou Williams' Zodiac Suite.

The University of Pittsburgh Annual Jazz Seminar and Concert—one of the region's premier jazz events—will run November 2–7 and feature free lunchtime concerts, a jazz film screening, free on-campus seminars, and an outreach event in the Hill District, culminating Nov. 7 with a 7:30 p.m. concert at Carnegie Music Hall, 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland.

Music on the Edge presents George Lewis’ highly regarded chamber compositions in performances by oercussionist David Shively, flutist Lindsey Goodman, violinist Dawn Posey, cellist Jonathan Golove, pianist Eric Moe, and conducted by Roger Zahab.

Iyanna Boatwright-Buffaloe is a University of Pittsburgh sophomore, a trombonist with an affinity for New Orleans-style jazz, and the recipient of the 2015 Pitt-BNY Mellon Jazz Scholarship.

The Pitt Jazz Ensemble's fall concert will feature music of classic jazz composers including Mary Lou Williams, Billy Strayhorn, Horace Silver, Oliver Nelson & Charles Mingus. You'll hear some new arrangements of jazz standards by these legendary composers, all performed by our talented University of Pittsburgh students.

Faculty and Students perform Billy Strayhorn Songs and other expressions inspired by the great man and his music.
