Ralph Guzzi and Pitt's Jazz Ensemble will perform as special guests on a program hosted by Carnegie Mellon University. Under the direction of Eric DeFade, The CMU Jazz Orchestra will perform music made famous by modern big bands - Thad Jones, Woody Herman and more. The highlight of the concert promises to be a high energy rendition of Chick Corea's latin music classic La Fiesta.

An exciting lineup is in place for the 44th annual University of Pittsburgh Jazz Seminar and Concert, the longest-running event of its kind in the United States. Pitt Jazz Week—which comprises free on-campus seminars, community venue performances, and the Nov. 1 concert at Carnegie Music Hall—will run from Oct. 27 to Nov. 1, 2014.

We are proud to present an evening with the Pitt Jazz Ensemble featuring Master Drummer Carl Allen and Pittsburgh's own Jazz Master Dwayne Dolphin.

T​he ​Music-GSO (Graduate Student Oranization) sponsors grants for travel to an academic conference to present a composition, paper or a poster. To be eligible you must be enrolled as a graduate music student in the Dietrich School of Arts at the time of your travel. Details and contact information are available on the application.

Berklee College of Music awarded the University of Pittsburgh Department of Music's Geri Allen an honorary doctorate during their 2014 commencement ceremony.

April 18, 2014 - 8:00pm

Vocalist Chloe Wieczorek will present a recital of jazz standards including songs by Jerome Kern ("The Way You Look Tonight"), Betty Carter ("Bluebird of Happiness"), George Gershwin ("Summertime"), and many more. Joining Wieczorek are pianist Ben Clifton, drummer Nick Volk, bassist Charlie Scott, and saxophonist Nicholas Amoscato.
