Heinz Chapel Choir Chamber Choir Festival

hcc12-07b.JPG Heinz Chapel, free Each year John Goldsmith and the Heinz Chapel Choir share the spotlight with outstanding high school choirs from around Pennsylvania by hosting their annual Chamber Choir Festival. Now in its 18th year, the event provides guest ensembles with an exciting performance experience and educational opportunity. This year the festival will feature a cappella choirs from Fox Chapel High School, State College High School, and Pine-Richland High School. The festival takes place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Heinz Chapel (Fifth and Bellefield Avenues), and is free to the public. For 67 years the Heinz Chapel Choir has presented a cappella music from a wide variety of traditions. Most of its Pittsburgh concerts are held in the Heinz Chapel on the University campus. In addition to its fall and spring concerts, the choir presents an annual series of four Christmas concerts that are sold out long in advance. Every other year the choir goes on tour, most recently to South America. Other tours have included Scandinavia (2003), Italy and Croatia (2001), Spain and France (1998), Greece and Italy (1995), and Germany, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Austria, and Switzerland (1992).
