Department of Music Announces the Don O. Franklin Prize in Musicology

The Department of Music is pleased to announce the establishment of the Don O. Franklin Prize in Musicology to foster and promote excellence in musicological research and writing. Awarded annually, the prize honors an article-length paper in Musicology of exceptional merit written by a student enrolled in the graduate program in Musicology at the University of Pittsburgh.

Prize: A cash prize of $500.

Administration: Awardee will be determined by a committee comprising three members of the Musicology faculty. Entries will be judged solely on the content of the papers, including appropriate figures and examples. The prize may be withheld by decision of the committee.

Application Process: All submissions for the prize must be made in electronic format. Email a copy of your paper as Word or PDF attachments to the Chair of the Franklin Prize Committee Deane Root (dlr@pitt.edu). If you have supplementary audio-visual material, you may email up to 3 files as attachments. AV attachments should be in standard formats and together must total no more than 3 MB. Each file must include your last name and first name in the file name (last, first). As an alternative to sending AV files, you may provide a web URL with your files.

Application Deadline: Email with attachments must be received by the Chair of the Franklin Prize Committee no later than March 16, 2015.
