The Department of Music said a fond farewell to 11 graduates on Sunday April 28th at the William Pitt Union, showering them with good wishes and a mountainous brunch before they headed to the day’s main commencement ceremony at the Petersen Events Center.
After a brief welcome by Department Chair Andrew Weintraub, Undergraduate advisor John Goldsmith had each of the students sit on a chair in front of the podium. Then, tongue firmly in cheek, Goldsmith expressed skepticism that any of the students were ready to graduate, and asked family members, faculty, and staff present to give final approval. He proceeded to introduce each of the graduates with a litany of the impressive accomplishments that typify our students. Not surprisingly, the ad hoc jury declared each student fully ready.
Hearty congratulations to all our graduates as they embark on the next pahse of their lives and careers!
