Alia Musica Concert Features Pitt Graduate Students and Alumni

An upcoming concert by Alia Music Pittsburgh will feature Department of Music alumni and current graduate students. The program will include the world premieres of works of composition and theory graduate students Matt Aelmore (East Liberty for organ and vibraphone) and Aaron Brooks (Tempo Chorale and Tune). Also on the program are works by Ramteen Sazegari (composition and theory graduate student) and Kerrith Livengood (PhD 2012), Krzysztof Penderecki, and Nissim Schaul.

The concert takes place at East Liberty Presbyterian Church on Sunday, October 20th at 7 p.m. and is free to the public. A freewill offering will be accepted.

Alia Musica was founded as a composers’ collective in 2006 by graduate students and alumni from the Department of Music and is directed by Federico Garcia (PhD 2006). It has produced nearly 50 premieres of music by emergent composers of the Pittsburgh area, including both members and guests.
